Cold Sores

clinical trials for cold sores

What Is A Cold Sore?

Cold sores, sometimes called fever blisters (HPV-1), are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red and swollen and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days.  Cold sores are caused from the herpes simplex virus (HPV-1). If you have the virus, you may or may not have cold sore breakouts. Participating in cold sore clinical research trials helps doctors find treatments.
